Rachel Rogers
Ministerial Intern
Rachel Rogers (they/she) is an aspirant to Unitarian Universalist ministry and lifelong resident of Nashville, Tennessee where they has been a member of First Unitarian Universalist Church of Nashville (FUUN) for over 10 years. Rachel is a seminarian at Meadville Lombard Theological School where they are pursuing their Masters of Divinity and holds a bachelor’s degree in Liberal Studies with an emphasis in theater and women’s studies from Middle Tennessee State University. Rachel has also completed one unit of Clinical Pastoral Education at Ascension St. Thomas Midtown Hospital in Nashville.
Prior to pursuing ministry, Rachel had a 15-year career in organizational communications, where they led executive communications and events and focused on employee enablement and experience. Rachel has also had a very active preaching career for the last several years where they have regularly preached at churches in the Southeast. At FUUN, Rachel has served as board president, a member of the Worship Team, and many other teams and committees. Rachel currently serves as a member of FUUN’s Committee on Shared Ministry.
Outside of church work, Rachel is a founding committee member of QDP in Nashville, a monthly LGBTQ event that has been raising and distributing money for local community-focused non-profits since 2012. They are also co-organizers, along with their spouse, Ashley, of the East Nashville Queer Parents community group. Rachel and Ashley live with their two children and their family dog, Posey, who also is pretty sure she is one of the humans in the house. When left up to their own devices, Rachel can be found knitting socks, reading sci-fi, digging in the garden, or rifling through their vinyl record collection.
