A Place in the Choir

There’s truth in that old saying about preaching to the choir. They’re the ones who show up no matter what, when times are hard or tempers thin. How do we turn the whole church into that choir?

The Rev. Jason Shelton recently stepped down as Associate Minister for Music at the First Unitarian Universalist Church of Nashville, which he had served since 1998, in order to pursue a freelance music ministry in the broader world. In addition to his work as a composer, he is an active choral conductor and worship leader, and an advocate for using music as a means of creating community in multi-faith, multi-cultural environments. Formerly a Franciscan brother, Jason received an MDiv from Vanderbilt Divinity School in 2003 and was ordained to the Unitarian Universalist ministry in 2004.
