The Promise of Today

Typically we think of promise as something in our future. Within many faith traditions, especially Protestantism, the promise of fulfillment lies in some distant future, or at least beyond our present experience. Today gets lost in the valley between nostalgia and our hopes for tomorrow. Religious scholars, however, acknowledge an emerging spirituality rising from resistance to traditional religion. This new spirituality looks amazingly like the comfortable theological home of Unitarian Universalism. What does this mean for us today?

Sunday’s service will include a ceremony to welcome several new members.
