There are many ways to contribute your unique skills and talents here at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Huntsville. Explore the following opportunities for using your gifts and interests to get involved.

Volunteer Opportunities Include:

  • Hospitality

    • Hospitality activities bring UUs together. It’s a great committee for learning about how UUs help others.  Hospitality handles first Sunday potlucks and special suppers, the Chili Cook-off, and receptions for memorial services and special occasions. Tasks include planning, decorating, setup/ cleanup, and hosting. If you’d like to join this committee or perhaps would rather offer help for a particular event, contact the Hospitality Chair and let the team know your interest.
  • Membership

    • Sunday morning greeters are needed each week in both the foyer and fellowship hall. If you are interested in arriving a few minutes early to provide welcoming smiles and Sunday bulletins, contact the Membership Chair.
  • Social Justice

  • Care

    • The Care Committee provides meals to families undergoing challenging times as well as helping families with new babies. Care Committee volunteers  also provide emotional support with greeting cards, checking on homebound church members, making Care Shawls, Comfort Throws, and baby gifts. Others volunteer to provide transportation to church events as needed.  For more information on how you may help let the Care Committee Chair know of your interest.
  • Children & Youth Religious Education

    • The CYRE Program is carefully organized for the safety and welcome of children and youth with trained volunteer teams facilitating Sunday morning groups. Additional volunteers are always needed and appreciated for help with snacks, supplies, craft projects, music making, and special events. Visit the Learning section of this website and let our Director of Religious Education know of your interest helping with our CYRE program.
  • Adult Religious Education

    • Adult Religious Education provides a wide variety of events such as film discussions, movement classes, and workshops on spiritual and intellectual development. We need trained facilitators, people who are willing to help set up, tech support for films, help with publicity, and other varied skills. Contact the Adult RE Committee to find out ways you can get involved.
  • Music Ministry

    • You do not have to be in choir or play an instrument to help with music ministry! We can also use folks with computer skills to help organize the music library into a digital spreadsheet. If you enjoy being creative we could use help developing visuals for the sanctuary that enhance our Soul Matters monthly themes and the music through which we explore those themes.
  • Property

    • The Property Committee organizes workdays, and does minor upkeep and repairs to keep the building operating and in good order.  Opportunities to serve on this committee include: meeting contractors during the work week, to perform repairs or improvements; spending a couple of hours fixing something that is lose or broken on the grounds; planning and participating in a work day event; doing general housekeeping or grounds maintenance, and more. Contact the Property Chair to find out how you can help.
  • Technology

    • The technology team is responsible for running sound during Sunday services from the sound booth, as well as maintaining the church WiFi network and keeping church computer systems up to date and in good working order. Interested in volunteering time to this effort? Contact the Technology Chair and let them know of your interest and skills.
